To welcome you to our inaugural issue, we’ve put together a selection of choice tunes, bra! to accompany the poetry and prose of FAUNA for your listening pleasure. Choose your favorite, or collect them all!~

Fauna, part I: Rock ‘n’ roll, kiddies, rock ‘n’ roll.

by Joy

My mix is marked by churning, pulsing beats that sound to me like animals on the prowl. As animals, we chase our needs—food, shelter, company, even solace. Inspired by the submissions we received for this issue, as well as the contributions we accepted, I’ve compiled songs of pursuit.

Fauna, part II: Necky’s Revenge

by Kenzie

You have Savage Garden, Warren Zevon, Owl City, Ylvis, Lady Gaga, A Tribe Called Red, Leila Broussard, and Jack’s Mannequin and more. This is the ultimate in faunal-themed pop jams as well as pieces inspired by the content and construction of our first issue.

Fauna, part III: If you’re not weird, you’re weird…

by Dylan

My musical taste is omnivorous. Here you’ll find folk, rap, electronic, and Fiona Apple. Fauna III contains some lesser-known species – tracks that might not be as familiar but make for a full freakosystem – exploring the breadth and depth of every humanoid emotion.

Fauna, part IV: Free

by Dave

Animal themed, of course, yet also incorporating another aspect of Fauna: time. Save for a few outliers, these tracks originate from an era for which music could have a lasting impact on a generation that is not quite X, but certainly not Millennial. Angst-filled at times, yes, but also discovery and identification; independence and freedom.

And then there’s this rip-roaring soundtrack:
